Happy Pride Month everyone!

June is a worldwide celebration of the queer community. It originated after the historic Stonewall riots in June 1969. This uprising against government and police violence in New York led to the birth of the gay rights movement and the spread of pride parades around the world. Pride is still needed, and that’s why June remains a month of visibility, pride, and solidarity for the queer community. Will you celebrate with us? Happy Pride, everyone! 🏳️🌈

Let's go Oerol!
Photo: Nikola Milatovic @Lastrada Graz, august 2023
This year, Oerol is centered around new research within our Pan~//Catwalk project: we cut the patriarchy to pieces, grow from greed for fast fashion and reflect upon the diverse Oerol visitors. Naturally, we present all of this in our signature Catwalk format, but with a fresh twist. We will be at various locations on the island for two days, presenting a new version each day. Are you at Oerol? Swarm with us!

Work visit to Graz & Berlijn

Zwermers has been selected for the ‘Fast Forward’ program by the Performing Arts Fund NL. This special funding application gives us the opportunity to expand our work internationally with the support of the fund. In preparation for our application, we are granted the means to search for international partners. We start with an introduction to the German company Rimini Protokoll, famous for their innovative theater projects and collaboration with local residents. Next, we visit LaStrada in Graz, where we presented various versions of our performance Pan~//Catwalk in 2023. Together, we will brainstorm methods to create a local version of our work with the city's residents. Our central question, ‘Who hangs in your wardrobe?’ gains a new dimension, as we delve deeper into personal stories and local culture. Imagine A mass performance of Pan~//Catwalk - Graz with 100 participants for example... We will keep you updated!

Pan~// Catwalk mix & Abled

Ten performers transformed between different versions of themselves during Pan~//Catwalk mix/abled. From relaxed couch potatoes to formal work outfits, from festive clothing to protest attire: the performers showed us heartwarming self-portraits, accompanied by live music. We look back on an inspiring collaboration with participants from Landpark Assisië and beyond. To be continued! This work was performed during Zwermen over Assisië and Theaterroute NABIJ. ❤️
